With its population exceeding the combined populations of Ocean View and the remaining 40 km² of this sub-council, one wonders why no Covid19 vaccination centre has been set up in Masiphumelele? This is of particular concern as the vaccination drive is extending to younger age groups.
So many residents of Masiphumelele travel daily to neighbouring areas where they work. And yet, how many Masiphumelele residents have been vaccinated?
Surely, and also in the interests of Masiphumelele’s neighbours, action must be taken urgently to address this. Expecting Masiphumelele residents to travel 2 to 3km to the Ocean View centre and then wait their turn in long queues before returning home is wishful thinking.
