Nine teams from seven schools and two community groups participated in the Cape Metro Marching Association’s annual marching-band festival at Zwaanswyk Academy in Tokai on Saturday September 23.
The association’s secretary, Denzil van Graan, said that despite rain on the day people had come from far and wide to support the cadets.
Lourier, Pelican Park, Parkwood, Ukhanyo, Jupiter, and Sonwabo primary schools; Ocean View Learners with Special Educational Needs (LSEN); Delft Community Cadets; and New Horizons Community Cadets showed off their marching moves, and each received a trophy for taking part.
There was also a display by a SAPS ceremonial drill squad, and the Hillview Drummers entertained the crowd.
