Edzel and Jeanette de Jager celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday April 16 with a virtual party on Zoom, including their five children – two of whom had been unable to fly out from the UK because of Covid-19 restrictions – and their spouses; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, including one due in October. The couple’s daughter, Cindy Styles, said her parents’ day was made extra special by Bronwyn Davis, the hospitality manager of Evergreen Lifestyle Centre in Noordhoek, who brought them yellow garden roses, a card and a scented candle as they were in lockdown. “We (the children and family) are thankful for our parents’ faithfulness to each other and for setting a good example of care, hospitality, and sacrificial living. We thank God for our parents,” said Ms Styles.
