The Fish Hoek Lions Club is marking Diabetes Awareness Month this November with a wellness day at Longbeach Mall on Saturday, from 9am to 1pm.
The event, following World Diabetes Day on November 14, will offer a range of free health services to the public, including diabetes screening, eye exams, hearing checks, blood tests for prostate cancer, breast exams and blood-grouping services.
Lion Lauren Winder said the 2024 theme for World Diabetes Day, “Breaking Barriers, Bridging Gaps”, stressed how hard it could be for some to get proper diabetes care.
“In keeping with this theme, the Fish Hoek Lions Club aims to increase awareness and support for those living with diabetes by providing accessible, no-cost health screenings,” she said.
