Megan “Lexy” Anderson, 26, of Fish Hoek, who has been missing for more than 10 days, has been found unharmed according to National Crime Assist (NCA).
The NCA’s Sally Steyn said she was found in Cape Town just after 5pm today, Friday January 10.
Megan was last seen at her grandmother’s house in Ranger Road on Saturday December 28 around 3.30pm when she left to visit friends (“Help find Megan,” Echo, January 2).
Earlier this week on Wednesday, January 8, a member of the public shared a photograph of her, walking along Long Street towards the Foreshore with a man, reportedly of Nigerian descent, around 2.30pm (“Missing Fish hoek woman spotted in CBD,” Echo, January 10).
Ms Steyn said the NCA team verified photographs of Megan, and engaged with the person who had taken the pictures. In addition, she said, the team tracked the route and direction in which Megan was moving and actively followed up on anonymous tips received via social media.
She said a friend of Megan’s father visited the area featured in the pictures and spotted someone looking like Megan.
She was accompanied by a man, and was wearing the same clothes as in the pictures. He said she did not appear to be in immediate danger.
Ms Steyn said the NCA Missing Persons Task Team, Hermanus, immediately mobilised, and arrived in the area at 2.59pm.
“After a thorough search and planning, Megan was located safe and unharmed…”
Ms Steyn said Megan was able to speak with her mother and grandmother, and reassured them of her safety.
Her mother, Michelle Meyer, referred all media enquiries to the NCA.
