Thrilling showdown at minstrel competition as teams battle in singing categories

Solo singers and choral groups showcased their talents at this week's Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association (KKKA) competition, where Section 1 performers battled it out in various singing categories.

This past Saturday January 11, section 1 troupes, West London All Stars, Baruch Entertainers, Playaz Inc, Posh Vibrant, Wesbank Youth Entertainers, TV Stars Youth Development and Phantoms Community Development went head-to-head in the Juvenile Sentimental, Adult/Senior Sentimental, English Combined Chorus, Female Sentimental, and Afrikaans Moppie Song categories.

The competition is nearing the end as teams now have the final round of categories coming up.

Section 1 winners will be announced on Saturday January 25 after teams compete in the final item, including the crowd favourite Best Band category.

On Saturday January 18, section 2 troupes, will compete in singing categories.

Section 2 troupes: Juvie Boy Entertainers, Philadelphians Sporting Club and Youth Development, Cape Town Hawkers, Ashwin Willemse Orient Community Development, Original District Six Hanover Minstrels, Fabulous Woodstock Starlites, Mannenberg Superstars and Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons Academy.
