American rapper Kendrick Lamar has been announced as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl half-time show.
The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the US National Football League (NFL) featuring professional football teams.
The multi-award-winning songwriter has been trending lately after his beef with Drake went viral.
The rapper, who released several diss songs including “Meet the Grahams”, “6:16 in LA”, “Euphoria”, and “Not Like Us”, will be performing for the first time as a headliner at the Super Bowl and not as a guest like he did in 2022 with Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J Blige.
Lamar is happy to have been booked for such a big performance to revive the legacy of rap music.
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” he said in a statement.
The organisers of the event are confident that Lamar will do a stellar job during his performance.
“Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip hop,” said NFL’s head of music, Seth Dudowsky, in a statement.
Most of Lamar’s fans are happy that he will be dissing Drake once again in front of many people.
“Drake on February 9th, 2025, watching 120 million people tune in to watch Kendrick Lamar call him a paedophile for the 193rd time in a row,” commented @RealYouTubeKids.
The Super Bowl will be held on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Other artists who have performed during the half-time show include Rihanna, Usher and The Rolling Stones.
