Indian dance troupe, Taare, will be performing with artists from various dance backgrounds to demonstrate unity in diversity. The showcase, called When Dancers Unite, will be held on Saturday April 30 at Artscape, and forms part of the Suidoosterfees.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Taare, an Indian dance troupe, will be performing with other artists from various dance backgrounds to demonstrate unity in diversity.
The latest show, called When Dancers Unite, is part of the Suidoosterfees, which is being hosted at Artscape from Wednesday April 27 to Sunday May 1. Taare’s showcase will be held on Saturday April 30 at 1pm and 4pm.
Taare is an Indian dance troupe that uses Bollywood song and dance to promote the Indian arts. Founded in 2012, by artistic director Ahneesh Valodia, the troupe has created a platform for many to pursue their love for Indian dance and in turn contribute to society through live performances over the years.
Taare has been a prominent cultural organisation within the Cape Town community, playing a key role in the promotion of Indian dance through various projects, on and off stage, while fostering values of resilience and passion, community upliftment, and dance artistry.
When Dancers Unite is a Bollywood-themed spectacle featuring dancers from the troupe and a host of artists from various other dance backgrounds.
“This showcase brings seemingly contrasting dance forms together onto one stage in a creative juxtaposition that highlights their differences but also creates a magical harmony of movement. From traditional Indian art forms to dance styles from across the globe, the 70-minute showcase is an explosion of colour, beauty, and novel imagination,” said Mr Valodia..
The production features dancers from Dance for All (contemporary and African dance), Dance Descendants (belly dance), DanceTrax (Irish dance), Latin Fever, Megan Davey School (ballet), The Hub Dance Studio (hip hop), Rosa Jiminez Spanish Dance Theatre and Divya Ranjini Ramgopal (Bharatnatyam) who each bring their unique flavour of dance to the multicultural experience.
