Golden Globes 2025: 'Emilia Perez' reigns with 10 nominations

"Emilia Perez" is poised to be the standout winner at the 2025 Golden Globes after receiving an impressive 10 nominations.

The musical crime comedy led the nominations announced on Monday, December 9, 2024. Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana each received nominations for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture.

The film also garnered nominations for several other categories, including Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language, Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Original Score – Motion Picture, Best Original Song – Motion Picture for "Emilia Perez," Best Screenplay – Motion Picture, Best Director – Motion Picture for Jacques Audiard, and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Karla Sofía Gascon.

In addition, Gomez earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her role in the hit TV show "Only Murders in the Building."

Other films that received significant nominations include the post-war drama "The Brutalist" and the Vatican thriller "Conclave."

In the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama category, the nominees are Daniel Craig for his role in "Queer," Adrien Brody for "The Brutalist," Timothée Chalamet for "A Complete Unknown," Colman Domingo for "Sing Sing," Ralph Fiennes for "Conclave," and Sebastian Stan for "The Apprentice."

The competition for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama includes big names like Angelina Jolie for "Maria," Nicole Kidman for "Babygirl," Tilda Swinton for "The Room Next Door," Fernanda Torres for "I’m Still Here," Pamela Anderson for "The Last Showgirl," and Kate Winslet for "Lee."

In the television categories, leading shows include "The Bear," "Only Murders in the Building," and "Shogun."

The ceremony is set to take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on January 5, and will be hosted by stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser.

During the event, "Cheers" legend Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award for his outstanding contributions to television, while Viola Davis will be honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her achievements in film.
