Students from Masiphumelele High School last week attended a performance of Athol Fugard’s My Children! My Africa! at the Artscape theatre, directed by Marcel Meyer of Abrahamse and Meyer Productions, following donations that covered tickets and transport. Oom Schalk actor David Muller, who offers pro bono drama classes at the school, accompanied the group. Students also took a backstage guided tour led by Fred Abrahamse and Marcel Meyer. Students were shown how various technical devices worked like the revolving stage and the minute camouflaged microphones the actors wore during the performance. One student, Ntando Qwalane said: "One day I am going to perform on this stage”. Pictured is Mr Meyer during the backstage tour.
