Classic cars will add a splash of colour to False Bay this weekend as The Wild Buggers Beach Buggy Club takes to the road for their latest event, Revving Up for the Lens!, on Sunday, July 13.
The Cape Town-based club, known for its enthusiasm for VW Air Cooled Vehicles—including Beach Buggies, Baja Bugs, old-school VWs and Beetles—will gather at 9.30am at the Bothasig KFC before departing at 10 am for a scenic group drive.
The route includes Red Hill and Boyes Drive, with views over Muizenberg Beach, which are expected to provide a dramatic backdrop for the convoy of vintage vehicles.
The event will also serve as a filming day, with journalism student Cale Nuttall, capturing footage and conducting short interviews with drivers along the way.
The outing will conclude with brunch at Dixies Restaurant on the False Bay coastline, where drivers will park off and enjoy a sea-facing meal.
“This isn’t just a cruise, it’s a celebration of VW culture and a chance to showcase the cars we love in one of the most beautiful parts of Cape Town,” said Anton Kleyn, president of The Wild Buggers Beach Buggy Club.
The club is inviting VW owners and classic car enthusiasts to join the drive, watch from the roadside, or meet up at Dixies afterwards.
“Whether you own a Bug or just appreciate these iconic vehicles, we’d love to connect with others in the VW family,” said Mr Kleyn.
