Police have launched an investigation after three people were killed and a fourth wounded in Muizenberg on Friday, August 16.
The bodies of one man and two women, aged between 29 and 32, were found at about 11.30pm in Mike Place, Xakabantu.
A fourth victim, a man, survived after being shot and managed to escape.
According to provincial police spokesman Colonel André Traut, the suspects fled the scene and have not yet been arrested.
Detectives are pursuing all available leads, although the motive for the attack remains unclear.
The shooting follows an earlier incident on Tuesday, August 13 ("Investigation launched after four men shot dead in Muizenberg," Echo August 14) when four men, aged between 20 and 37, were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds in Mountain Road, Overcome Heights.
Colonel Traut said both mass murder cases remain under investigation.
“Detectives are pursuing all possible leads. Policing in the areas in Muizenberg affected by the recent gang violence has been heightened with additional deployments, and the safety and policing in the area have been intensified to prevent any further violence. Security of the community remains our concern."
