Two long-serving educators have stepped into top leadership roles at their schools, marking a proud moment for both the institutions and the communities they serve.

Fish Hoek Primary School has officially appointed Linda Clarke-Farr as principal, effective October 1.

Ms Clarke-Farr joined the school in 1993 as a Grade 4 educator and has served as deputy principal and, more recently, acting principal.

“Fish Hoek Primary School is in my DNA,” she said. “My theme when I applied was ‘It’s time to soar’, and I believe, with our dedicated staff and involved parents, that’s exactly what we can achieve.”

Her vision includes embracing technology for all, expanding leadership and academic opportunities for learners, strengthening community connections, and prioritising staff wellbeing.

“While I don’t underestimate the responsibilities and challenges, I am excited to build on the strengths of our school and grow it together with our staff and community,” she said.

Both schools expressed confidence that under their new principals, they will continue to thrive, inspire, and uphold their traditions of excellence.

Meanwhile, at St James RC Primary School, Desiree Williams has been appointed principal after dedicating more than 20 years to the school.

She began her career there as an assistant teacher before moving on to roles as an educator and Head of Department.

“Being appointed principal is both a great honour and a deeply personal milestone,” she said.

“It is a confirmation of the trust placed in me, and it fills me with gratitude and a renewed sense of commitment to serve.”

Ms Williams’ priorities include strengthening the school’s Catholic ethos, ensuring every learner receives a quality, holistic education, and creating a safe and inclusive environment. She also aims to build stronger partnerships with parents and the wider community.

“To our learners, dream big, work hard, and never doubt that you have something special to offer the world,” she said.
