Stop encouraging loyalty cards

Letter to the Editor|Published 2 years ago

Chris Sharpe, Kommetjie

Cards for this, cards for that. Seems like you can't shop anywhere these days without a card unless you don't mind paying more for a single product.

Buy a single at R54.99 or take two at R70. This practice is forcing the poor and elderly to take two or three items, just because it's cheaper.

The only people this policy benefits is the supermarket, which is able to move stock quicker and still make its profit margins. It's discriminatory, plain and simple.

As a man, I don't carry a handbag so where do I put all these cards? Stop the cards. No, we are not your loyal customers, we shop everywhere just because we like to, so stop hurting men, the poor and elderly.
