The response from councillor Simon Leill-Cock to my letter regarding general safety issues (“Missing, broken drain covers a danger,” Echo December 14, 2023) refers.
I am well aware of the C3 reporting system, which covers individual faults. However, in my case, I was reporting a general safety issue with nine separate drains along a major road without street numbers as well as vegetation that blocked the pavement.
I cannot take responsibility for the general safety in the ward and did not expect him to act as secretary but rather to forward my report to the departments involved for follow-up rather than piecemeal rectification.
Simon’s Town may well be a small part of a very large metro faced with many serious challenges, as he states, so it is frustrating when one is ignored when trying to highlight infrastructure issues.
