The facelifted Hyundai Tucson has arrived in South Africa, sporting a price cut as it seeks to claw back some market share from an ever-increasing array of Chinese rivals.
The rationalised Tucson range now consists of three derivatives, kicking off with the 2.0 Premium auto priced at R559,900, which is R39,000 cheaper than its predecessor.
Topping the line-up is a pair of diesel models, with the 2.0D Executive priced at R709,900 and the 2.0D N Line at R859,900.
The midsize Hyundai SUV now undercuts rivals such as the Kia Sportage, from R662,995, as well as the Toyota Rav4 (R712,700) and Volkswagen Tiguan (R664,500).
In the process it edges closer to Chinese alternatives like the Haval H6 (R492,050), MG HS (R499,900) and Jaecoo J7 (R549,900).
The downside is that the base version retains the older-generation 2.0-litre normally aspirated petrol engine instead of opting for Hyundai’s 1.6-litre turbo motor, which would have better addressed its rivals, albeit at a higher price point.

The 1.6T engine, which previously served at the upper end of the range, now falls away, leaving Hyundai’s renowned 2.0-litre diesel, with a beefy 137kW and 416Nm, to fly the flag.
But what’s new on the 2025 Hyundai Tucson?
On the outside, we see a new interpretation of the so-called “Parametric Dynamics” design language, with claw-like “hidden” headlight elements incorporated into a more rectangular grille. The rear end gains a new bumper, incorporating a wider skidplate.
Inside there’s a brand new dual-screen cabin layout, with large upper screens perched above a horizontal air outlet bar, and Hyundai has reintroduced physical rotary controls for the climate system.

In terms of specification, the 2.0 Premium gains new 18-inch alloy wheels as well as LED headlights with static bending, blind spot detection and artificial leather seat upholstery.
The base model also comes with manual air conditioning, cruise control, rear-view camera, wireless phone charging, electronic stability control and six airbags.
The 2.0 diesel executive gains automatic climate control, electric adjustment and heating for the front seats and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Finally, the flagship N-Line adds a unique exterior design package to the mix along with a sunroof, partial suede seat upholstery and a whole suite of driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and rear cross traffic alert.
Included in the purchase price of every model is a five-year or 150,000km warranty, with an additional two-year and 50,000km worth of powertrain protection, plus a five-year or 75,000km service plan.
