The South African Navy Band gave an outdoor performance, at Admiralty House on Saturday, in appreciation of contributions made to the sanitary pad drive started by the band, the Simon’s Town business community, and simonstown.com. According to Steph Mellor, from simonstown.com, the drive happened after the band’s conductor, Commander Lindela Madikizela, pictured, expressed concern about girls missing school for up to two and a half months of the year due to them not having sanitary pads. He then suggested that for each container of sanitary pads collected, the band would give a concert in return.
