Cubs of the 1st Muizenberg Sea Scout Group ran a soup kitchen for their Mandela Day service project on Saturday July 23. They were joined by the 1st Retreat Cub Pack. A total of 20 cubs, seven scouters (adult leaders) and six parents spent the morning making 40 litres of potato soup and eight loaves of cheese bread. The cubs learned about healthy eating and why fruit and vegetables are good for you. They chopped up all the vegetables for the soup, which assistant pack scouter Samantha Rouse helped them prepare.
