The World of Work (WoW) Career Festival - the one-day-only annual event to be hosted by FutureMe at Sun Exhibits, GrandWest, on Thursday September 15 - has opened up an additional slot to accommodate more pupils.
Festival organisers FutureMe have partnered with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) since 2018, allowing them to reach schools within the Metro South, with this year’s reach expanding even further into the broader Cape Town metropole areas.
Thanks to this partnership, 4 000 Grade 10 pupils from WCED-supported schools have already registered, which sees the first session from 9am to 3pm at maximum capacity.
To allow for even more young people to benefit, organisers have opened a two-hour slot from 3pm to 5pm to Grade 10 to 12 pupils and school-leavers.
This year’s festival will showcase career opportunities in South Africa’s burgeoning green economy..
FutureMe is the recipient of the 2021 WCERA Social Enterprise of the Year Award and has developed a series of programmes that are completely free and digitally available through their web app, and specifically designed to bridge the gap between the youth of South Africa and the employment sector, assisting job applicants with building a CV, developing skills, exploring career options, and joining live events.
Space is limited for the 3pm to 5pm slot and advance booking is recommended.
Tickets cost R80 for pupils and R100 for adults. A “carpool” bundle of R350 has also been added that grants entry for one adult and three students.
