“Two cappuccinos and one caffè latte and a chicken roti“ and ”an Americano and two koeksisters, please” were just some of the orders that echoed through the kitchen of My Father’s House, a community kitchen in Simon’s Town during the official launch of its MFH Cafe on Friday October 28.

The cafe was created to help six former homeless men who graduated from a two-week barista-training course on Friday September 30 (“Coffee is the future for former homeless men,” Echo October 6).

Board member Dylan James said the event was well supported and the baristas sold 54 coffees on the day.
