Drugs worth more than R4 million, including cocaine, mandrax and tik, were seized in Milnerton.
Milnerton civic organisations have welcomed the confiscation of drugs worth more than R4 million in the area.
Around 3am on Wednesday November 9, Milnerton police officers received a tip-off about drugs that were going to be transported around Milnerton from a flat near a shopping mall in the area, said Milnerton police spokesperson Captain Nopaya Madyibi.
Upon arrival at the flat, police found two foreign-national men aged 27 and 29, as well as a South African woman aged 22.
Officers searched the premises and found a plastic bag with 65 643 mandrax tablets valued at R3.3 million and eight plastic bags with tik with a street value of more than R1 million.
A smaller bag with cocaine, three scales and five cellphones was also confiscated at the flat.
All three suspects were arrested for possession and dealing in drugs.
Milnerton councillor Anthony Benadie welcomed the drug bust and congratulated the police officers on a job well done.
“Drug use and abuse is killing our community and destroying lives. Undoubtedly one of the biggest social ills in our society.
"While this bust bust is welcomed, we also know that there is an abundance of drug dealers in our community and many dealers trade freely and openly,“ said Mr Benadie.
He called for increased police resources and visible policing across Milnerton.
Milnerton Central Residents’ Association secretary Liete van der Eems also welcomed the arrests, saying the association was thankful to all involved, especially the police.
Milnerton CPF chairman Mark Lindsell also congratulated the police on the arrests.
