Animal welfare organisations are more than buildings with cages; they are the last line of defence for thousands of animals who have nowhere else to go. But these organisations are stretched thin. Rising costs, limited funding, and growing numbers of abandoned or surrendered animals leave many welfare teams fighting exhaustion as much as cruelty. For the Garden Route SPCA – George (GRSPCA), few have stepped in with more consistency, compassion, and sheer heart than the dotsure.co.za Beard Club.

Through ongoing volunteer efforts, charity partnerships, and a culture built on kindness, dotsure.co.za is helping create those Soft Landings for animals and the warm-hearted humans who care for them. On 26 November 2025, the dotsure.co.za Beard Club swapped desks, keyboards, and coffee mugs for hammers, paintbrushes, drills, and wagging tails to refurbish enclosures, buildings, and kennels. As Warren Woolley, Senior Manager Pet Vertical at dotsure.co.za, and proud face in the Beard Club lineup, puts it; “We had 70 guys that all donated money, but partnering with the GRSPCA allows the team to get their hands dirty and make a tangible contribution, rather than just making a donation.”

Movember in Motion: Caring for Animals While Caring for Men

One of dotsure.co.za’s most heartfelt community initiatives is the Beard Club, a big-hearted effort that raises funds for animal welfare every November while sparking conversations about men’s mental and physical health. By growing a beard, the club grows awareness. By showing up for the community’s pets, they show up for one another.

Why Fundraising and Charity Events Matter More Than Ever

For the GRSPCAs, fundraising is not “nice to have.” It’s survival. Every charity event, every public donation, every sponsored initiative helps cover the costs they simply cannot cut: veterinary procedures, vaccinations, food, equipment repairs, fuel for rescues, and staff support. dotsure.co.za’s commitment to ongoing fundraising, from large-scale donations to ongoing charity drives gives these organisations breathing room.

In the words of the GRSPCA staff on-site, when businesses rally behind animal welfare organisations, they don’t just improve animal welfare outcomes, they help protect the very people who protect the animals. “The support from the Beard Club helps the GRSPCA grow, and it makes things easier for the staff and for the animals to meet new people.” Added Lukhanyo Swelindawo, an Animal Carer at the GRSPCA.

Soft Landings: The Heart Behind the Bearded Faces

A soft landing is a dog sleeping on a warm blanket instead of a cold floor; a cat receiving treatment instead of being turned away; an animal carer getting a moment to rest.

Another whiskered warrior in the Beard Club ranks, Senior Manager Direct Motor Sales & Warranty Vertical at dotsure.co.za, Desmond Wood, summed it up like this; Soft Landings is dotsure.co.za’s promise to animals and communities. It's an internal mantra and our main purpose for existing. It's about giving back and making a positive impact wherever we go. Whether we’re protecting cars, supporting pets, or uplifting our communities, we’re here to make a difference one policy and one meaningful act of kindness at a time.”
