Veronique Schrire, née Hoogendoorn, was one of Fish Hoek's most colourful characters, according to her husband, Robert. She died on Wednesday December 6 after a long struggle with lung cancer. According to her husband, she was famous for her enthusiastic personality, great smile and flamboyant dress sense and was rarely without a stylish hat.To dog walkers, she was well known for her over-sized dogs, ranging from a wolf hybrid to her beloved Great Danes. Ms Schrire’s memorial service will be held at the Fish Hoek Seventh Day Adventist Church hall on the corner of First Avenue and Recreation Road, on Tuesday December 19, at 4pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
