West London All Stars wins section 1 in minstrel competition

West London All Stars take first place in Section 1 at the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association (KKKA) competition.

Philadelphians Minstrels from Grassy Park, who have been out of competition for eight years, took second place and Exquisite Golden Gate Entertainers took third place.

Athlone Stadium hosted the final round on Saturday January 27, where teams participated in the last few categories such as Juvenile Combined Chorus, Adult Coon Song, Best Band and Group Song.

Philadelphians Minstrels from Grassy Park placed second.

Troupes went the extra mile in their performances to entertain supporters and most importantly, the judging panel.

The five-week-long competition comes to an end on Saturday February 3, where Section 2 finals will be hosted at Athlone Stadium. The categories to be adjudicated this weekend are Juvenile Combined Chorus, Adult Coon Song, Best Band and Group Song.
