Founder of Reading and Writing Solutions, Jeff Paulse, shows some of the books that his organisation will be donating to 67 schools for Mandela Day.
Reading and Writing Solutions (RWS), an Athlone-based non-profit organisation, is hosting a literacy development project in celebration of Mandela Day, where they will donate books to 67 schools, for free. The project will run from Monday July 15 to Thursday July 18 at the Dulcie September (Athlone) civic centre, from 9am to 3pm.
The organisation is also appealing to the public, businesses, book wholesalers, publishers, and anyone willing to assist, to donate books in good condition that can be used in primary and high schools. Book donations can be dropped off on the corner of Westbrooke and 18 Boeschoten roads, Gleemoor, by Friday July 12.

The organisation will also have a variety of adult and children’s books for sale on Thursday July 18. The books are any three for R50. Funds raised will be used to sustain the organisation.
