THE RICHMOND police are investigating the cause of an accident that occurred between an ambulance and a Toyota Quantum taxi on Monday.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the taxi drove into the back of the ambulance, which had been dispatched to another accident scene.
“The police are investigating the cause of a bus accident that occurred at approximately 4.30am on the N1 between Richmond and Hanover when a passenger bus travelling with 20 occupants apparently overturned,” said Kock.
“All 20 passengers were admitted to local hospitals in Hanover and De Aar for medical attention after sustaining serious to minor injuries.
“At about 9am, a taxi with two male occupants drove into the back of an ambulance that was dispatched to the bus accident scene. The female ambulance driver was injured and her male assistant escaped unscathed. Both men in the taxi sustained minor injuries.
“The cause of both accidents are under investigation. Anyone with information on the matter can contact Detective Sergeant Rodney Julies on 082 302 0371. The investigation continues,” concluded Kock.
