Great-grandmother enjoys city’s attractions on 80th birthday
A Rocklands grandmother did all things Capetonian free and adventurous in honour of her 80th birthday.
Yvonne Floris born on October 5, 1944, visited the Two Oceans Aquarium, the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, The Cape Wheel - all at the Waterfront; and Table Mountain Aerial Cableway on Saturday, October 5.
She took advantage of the free entry birthday specials that the various tourist attractions offer.
Her granddaughter Bianca Lategan, who accompanied her, said: “She loves adventure and animals and she had a ball of a time.”
Ms Floris has six children, 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She has been living in Rockland for 44 years.
Ms Floris says that age “ain’t nothing but a number”.
“You’re only as old as you feel,” she said.
She does many household chores by herself, and even hand washes her clothes.
