City Law Enforcement officers arrested four men and confiscated drugs worth about R5 000 and cash.
Four suspected drug dealers were arrested in Manenberg last week with the seizure of about R5000 worth of mandrax, unga and tik, say police.
City Law Enforcement officers made the bust while patrolling the area on Thursday December 5 at about 7.15am, said Manenberg SAPS spokesman Captain Ian Bennett.
“The officers were deployed within hot spot areas of the precinct to combat gang conflict, focussing on stop and searches and high-density patrols. As they patrolled Stormsriver Way, the officers spotted the four suspicious men. They stopped and searched them, finding a consignment of drugs. The men, aged 18, 21, 24, and 40, were arrested for the possession and dealing in drugs,” Captain Bennett said.
The officers had confiscated 26-and-a-half mandrax tablets, 17 units of unga, seven units of tik and R282 in cash, said Captain Bennett.
Meanwhile, Manenberg police chief Brigadier Jayce Naidoo has urged the public not to post false or old information on social media.
“This creates fear within our community, sending messages out to people that the area is volatile and lawless,” he said. This blocks opportunities for our youth for employment and other positive activities.“
Information should be verified before sharing it on social media, he said.
