THE Kimberley police are investigating an inquest following the death of a 36-year-old man who drowned in a water pit in Ronaldsvlei.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Kock, police spokesperson, a distressing incident was reported to the authorities after the family of the deceased made a gruesome discovery. The family alerted the police after spotting the shoes of the deceased floating on the water's surface, leading to the recovery of the body.
“On Friday, February 7, 2025 at about 11am, the police Search and Rescue teams from the Northern Cape and Free State retrieved the body of the male from an approximately 11 metre deep water pit. The deceased is believed to be a resident in the area. The family of the deceased reported the matter to the police after they found his shoes floating on the water of the pit after searching for him two days ago,” said Kock.
