The restoration of electricity supply in Bloekombos and parts of Wallacedene was delayed on Tuesday because of shacks under power lines, Eskom said.
“Eskom technicians were onsite and were unable to access the affected infrastructure. However, the informal structure that encroached the most on Eskom’s infrastructure (was removed) .This is a significant step toward enabling Eskom to begin the restoration process,” the utility said in a statement.
It added that almost 4 000 customers in Bloekombos and parts of Wallacedene were affected by the outage that was caused by damage to a piece of equipment on a pole.
There was no estimated time available for when the supply would be restored, the utility said.
