Longbeach Mall will host an art exhibition in aid of Breadline Africa from today, Monday March 3, till the end of the month.

The exhibition, themed Unity in Diversity, aims to support the non-profit organisation based in Muizenberg, which focuses on improving early childhood education in South Africa.

Artist Irene Oxley said the event will feature works from 40 artists representing diverse backgrounds. The collection includes paintings in oil, pastel, watercolour, and acrylic, as well as  sculptures. On various days, artists will be painting live in the mall, allowing shoppers to observe their work, ask questions, and engage with them.

Lioness Roar by Irene Oxley is another painting that will be on display at the exhibition.

As part of the initiative, Longbeach Mall will set up a library and bookshelf display to encourage book donations for Breadline Africa’s literacy efforts.

The exhibition will be displayed centre-wide and will be open daily from 9am to 7pm. A curator will be in attendance from 9am to 7pm (excluding Sundays) to provide information on the artworks and artists. Entry is free.

The exhibition offers an opportunity to support local art and contribute to an initiative focused on education and community development, said Ms Oxley. For more information, call Ms Oxley at 082 303 6798.
