The parking lot in front of the Muizenberg civic centre will be closed for several months as part of the ongoing refurbishment of the Muizenberg beachfront.
The parking lot, which closed on Wednesday, March 19, is necessary for construction work aimed at optimising the parking layout in the area.
The parking area demarcated in red will be closed to the public as from Wednesday March 18 until mid-2025.

The closure of the parking lot follows the shutdown of the informal gravel parking area on the western side of Surfer's Corner, next to the railway line, which has been unavailable to the public since last month.
The work at the western parking area involves deep excavations of more than two metres to facilitate the installation of new underground services which is part of the first phase of the overall refurbishment.
The City said the refurbishment project, which will take about two years, is being implemented in phases, including major upgrades to public amenities and the replacement of ageing seawalls.
The construction of the first section of a sloped revetment, or seawall, is set to begin at the St James Walkway. The new seawall is a critical component of the upgrade, designed to protect the beachfront and underground services from the future impacts of climate change, including coastal erosion, sea level rise, and more frequent storm surges.
As a result of these closures and ongoing work, parking in the area is expected to be limited, especially on busy days. Traffic flow to and from the beachfront will also be affected, although all roads will remain open. Despite these disruptions, the beach will remain open and accessible to the public at all times.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay informed about the project's progress. The next community liaison meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 16, from 5.30pm to 7pm at The Lookout on Promenade Road, Zandvlei, Muizenberg.
