Shocking footage showing a suspended warden at Pollsmoor Prison showing off 28 gang signs is doing rounds on social media.
This come just a month after a video of warden Bruce Van Rensburg making a deal with a bandiet not to confiscate his phone was discussed in Parliament.
The alleged corrupt dealings of officials at Pollsmoor Prison was in the spotlight as Van Rensburg appeared alongside an alleged skollie from Hanover Park, Kyle du Toit.
The initial video sent tongues wagging on social media and even resulted in questions being posed to Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald by Members of Parliament.
Images later surfaced showing Du Toit posing with selfies with his motjie in the mang also surfaced and Van Rensburg was subsequently suspended.
Du Toit now faces criminal charges after a case was registered at Kirstenhof SAPS against him.
In the video posted this Monday, a woman, who identified herself as Du Toit’s girlfriend, states that she is posting the video of Van Rensburg to make it go "viral".
DCS spokesperson, Logan Maistry, confirmed that Du Toit is no longer allowed to receive visitations as the investigation is underway and says the video is not new.
He explains: "The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) confirms that all visitations to the Pollsmoor inmate, implicated in a TikTok video allegedly displaying negotiation for further use of the device, have since been duly suspended. Additionally, the official implicated has since been suspended pending finalisation of the investigation currently underway."
Meanwhile DA MP Nicholas Gotsell, member of the Select Committee on Security and Justice, said they are now seeking clarity on whether or not the warden will face criminal charges.
He says: ‘The video depicts the warden extorting a c-voucher [correctional services currency] in exchange for not confiscating the phone.
"Whilst a reply to a Parliamentary Question posed by the DA has indicated that a case was open with the Kirstenhof police station, clarity has been sought in respect of the act of extortion which was committed by the warden - as is depicted in the TikTok video.
"There must be consequences for transgressing inmates and wardens alike."
