The girlfriend of an alleged Junky Funky gang boss has been busted for aiding the gang in the brazen hit at Wynberg Magistrates Court.

Nearly a week after the shocking shooting which left court officials reeling in shock, it has been revealed that the Strandfontein vrou has been charged.

The Daily Voice has learnt that the woman is known to be the lover of the notorious man and the couple were taken in by detectives over the weekend.

The shocking shooting on the fourth floor of the building which houses the Wynberg Regional Court sent tongues wagging amid false claims that the victim was a state witness.

At the time of the incident an eye witness reported that a lone gunman wearing a maroon t-shirt and a black beanie approached Dingalomoyo Chintso, 49, and took a firearm out of his sling bag and fired four shots at his head.

Panic spread as bang mense feared the gunman was still roaming the court corridors as sources revealed that the victim was a person of interest in the murder of slain Junky Funky Kids gang boss Ashley "Essie" Phillips, who was shot outside Brackenfell Police Station earlier this year.

Police spokesperson, Brigadier Novela Potelwa, confirmed the arrest and says: "A 35-year-old woman has been charged with the murder. She is expected to appear in the Wynberg court on Monday [today].

"As the team of investigators continues with the probe, more arrests are imminent. The investigation commenced after a brazen shooting incident on Tuesday, 8 April 2025 where a man was shot and killed at the Wynberg Regional Court.

"Since the shooting incident, the investigators worked around the clock in search of the perpetrators. Western Cape SAPS management has welcomed the breakthrough and expressed confidence in the team of investigators as the investigation unfolds. It is expected that the investigation will determine the motive for the murder'.

Shortly after the shooting the NPA also refuted claims that Chintso was a State witness and instead revealed that he was appearing on murder charges.

According to a police report seen by the Daily Voice, Chintso had various murder charges brought against him for incidents in the Muizenberg Police Precinct. The report shows that the man whose address is in Philippi had two pending murder cases against him dating back to January 2023.

It also shows that he was previously charged with murder in 2013, but the case was later withdrawn and also faced charges of theft of a motor vehicle and being in possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

These charges dating back to 2019 were also withdrawn. Various sources have told the Daily Voice that Chintso was alleged to have been hired by the Junky Funky Kids to murder Phillips.

At the time of Phillips' death, the gang allegedly tried to flous cops by claiming that he was killed by well-known rivals in the Flakkas gang.
