Fish Hoek police are still searching for two men who fled on foot after a high-speed chase ended in a crash near Emerald Crescent on Friday, May 16.

The chase began after a vehicle, reported stolen in the Westlake area, was spotted and pursued by Fish Hoek SAPS along with private security. The vehicle crashed into a wall at Nerina Gardens, and three men jumped out and ran.

According to Fish Hoek police spokesman Warrant Officer Peter Middleton, one suspect was arrested shortly afterwards. The other two escaped by running through the grounds of Bay Primary School and then into Fish Hoek Primary School (FHPS).

One suspect was seen on the school field and was confronted by a staff member, but kept running and left the premises. The other entered the FHPS reception area pretending to be a parent trying to register a child. He was turned away and also left the school without incident.

“SAPS, security and the neighbourhood watch are still searching for the two remaining suspects. Please report any suspicious persons to the authorities and do not attempt to confront them," Officer Middleton said.

Pieter le Roux, manager at Nerina Gardens, said fortunately, no one was hurt. They are waiting for their insurance before repairing the damaged wall.
