The much-loved RePAWposed exhibition is back this July at Noordhoek Art Point Gallery — combining creativity and compassion to raise funds for Tears Animal Rescue.

Following its success in 2024, RePAWposed 2025 – Where Art Gets a Second Life – and So Do the Animals will once again feature forgotten artworks reimagined by more than 20 local artists.

These previously discarded pieces, once found in charity shops of Tears, have been transformed into bold, quirky, and colourful new creations.

“This isn’t your average walk-through-and-nod art exhibition,” said Aimee Kruger, artist and co-owner of Noordhoek Art Point Gallery.

“RePAWposed is about wild creativity, local talent, and using art to bring hope to rescue animals. It’s uplifting, it’s surprising – and it’s a little bit cheeky.”

From scenic landscapes turned into safari adventures, to still life paintings given a playful twist, the exhibition promises something for everyone, with all funds going towards the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of animals in need.

Last year, the event raised more than R40,000 for Tears. This year, organisers hope to surpass that amount with the help of the local community.

“There’s music, there’s wine, there’s laughter, and there’s always a mad dash to outbid your neighbour for that one incredible piece,” said Ms Kruger. “And at the heart of it all is a cause that really matters.”

Local artist Ingrid Altmann says this year’s RePAWposed auction promises an impressive collection of artworks.

“There are going to be some incredible works on auction and some lovely prizes too, thanks to generous donations from the community,” she said.

“All the local artists, along with some exciting new ones, are putting their own unique spin on the pieces.”

Ms Altmann, who has two artworks going under the hammer this year, says her theme is Winnie the Pooh.

“This auction means a great deal to me. Noordhoek Art Point started it two years ago and it’s been a huge success ever since.”

She added that supporting Tears is close to her heart: “I have five rescue animals—two cats and three dogs—all from Tears. They do such incredible work, and it’s fantastic to be able to give back to a local charity that truly cares for animals.”

Visitors will be able to view the artworks from mid-July before the collection goes under the hammer at a charity auction on Friday, August 1.

The event starts at 5pm and will be held at Noordhoek Art Point Gallery.

Proceeds will go directly to Tears Animal Rescue.
