Masiphumelele children are in for a festive treat as community non-profit Projekt Ubuntu Connekt launches its annual Christmas Stationery Box drive.

The organisation aims to collect 200 filled boxes this year, each containing essential stationery for the school year and small festive treats to bring joy to children who often start the year without the basics many take for granted.

“A simple pencil or notebook can inspire a child to dream bigger, while a sweet treat can make their Christmas magical,” said Yonela Msutu, Projekt Ubuntu Connekt co-founder and program director.

The boxes help children start the new school year with dignity and excitement.

Donations of stationery, sweets, or financial contributions - each box costing roughly R400 to R450 - are welcome. The deadline for donations is Friday, November 21

Founded in 2024 by Busisiwe Banda and Ms Msutu, Projekt Ubuntu Connekt runs youth programmes for children aged 7 to 18, providing tutoring, workshops, cultural outings, and safe spaces for learning and growth.

The Christmas Box Drive is one of the organisation’s most cherished projects, reflecting the spirit of Ubuntu and the commitment to ensure no child feels forgotten during the festive season.
