Spoon Park in Lakeside was celebrated on Thursday, September 11, with the planting of a milkwood tree to mark Arbor Month and recognise the efforts of local residents.
The Friends of Spoon Park, represented by Margaret Moir, were presented with a certificate of appreciation for their ongoing collaboration with the City’s Recreation and Parks Department.
Ward councillor Izabel Sherry, who donated four trees to the park earlier this year, joined area manager Asanda Mdladlamba and superintendent Patrick Williams for the ceremony.
“To see this park thrive is truly a community achievement,” she said. “Today’s planting is a symbol of partnership and a legacy for the future.”
