Disabled People South Africa (DPSA), Pelican Park branch, participated in a surf therapy session at Surfers Corner, Muizenberg, on Saturday, September 13.

Counsel member Cheryl Halford said that the non-profit organisation Roxy Davis Foundation, dedicated to improving mental and physical well-being through ocean-based experiences, provided a day of free surf therapy, including breakfast and lunch, for disabled individuals from across the Cape.

“Before getting on the surfboard, participants are given warm-up exercises, and then they are guided in the water by instructors,” Ms. Halford said.

She shared that even a blind man and a woman without legs had the opportunity to surf, and the latter did not want to leave the surfboard, as she enjoyed herself so much."
