The Ocean View community has come together to support families left homeless after a devastating fire at Kamila Flats, showing an outpouring of generosity and care.
Residents, donors, volunteers, and local organisations provided food, clothing, toys, and other essential items to help families begin rebuilding.
On Sunday, September 28, a fire tore through the flats, destroying five units and leaving eight families without homes.
Ocean View Community Police Forum (CPF) chairperson Rushda Richards expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed and acknowledged the guidance of ward councillor Patricia Francke and City of Cape Town speaker Felicity Purchase.
She also thanked volunteers and local organisations, including Liezl Pye, Deep Blue Security, Fish Hoek Lions Club, Sandi’s Bristo, Harcourt, and Living Hope.
“The kindness, love, and generosity of our community have lifted us up when we felt like we’d lost everything,” Ms Richards said.
“In the midst of loss, your support has restored our hope. We’ll rise again, together in Ocean View.”
