Looking for something to do in the far south and nearby areas? Here’s your weekly guide to local events, markets, clubs, and community activities

Fish Hoek Garden Club: The Fish Hoek Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, October 15, at 7pm in the minor hall at the Fish Hoek civic centre. Visitors pay R20. Horticulturist and flower show judge Louise Nurrish will talk about her indigenous nursery, Living Roots, part of U-Turn, and share tips for preparing exhibits for the flower show on Saturday, November 1. Flame Lily Foundation: The Flame Lily Foundation – Cape Peninsula will hold its monthly tea and refreshments at 10am on Wednesday, October 22, at the Fish Hoek Bowling Club, Central Circle, Fish Hoek. Fund-raising dinner: Hands4Change Outreach Projects will host its final fund-raising dinner on Friday, October 31, from 6pm, at The Galley in Fish Hoek. The evening will celebrate the group’s work in creating safe spaces for children in the Valley, with a three-course meal, live music by Stuart Badham-Thornhill, dancing, and a raffle. Tickets cost R250, with proceeds supporting the kids’ projects. Dress is semi-formal, and drinks will be on sale. To book or donate, email info@hands4changeoutreachprojects.co.za.

FynbosLIFE Fair: Muizenberg-based non-profit, FynbosLIFE, will host its annual FynbosLIFE Fair on Sunday, November 2, from 10am to 4pm at Zandvlei Lookout. Visitors can browse more than 60 stands featuring fynbos and nature-conservation groups, local fynbos artisans, and interactive educational veld circles. MC and musician Mark Mwaba and speaker Dr Glynis Humphrey will also be part of the event. For more information, visit fynboslife.org.za

Remembrance Parade: The Moths Battledress Shellhole will have its annual Remembrance Parade and service in the Garden of Remembrance on Kommetjie Road in Fish Hoek, on Sunday, November 2, from 11am to 12.30pm. Clubs and Activities: Writers’ Club – Fish Hoek Scribblers: Thursday, October 16, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Fish Hoek Library meeting room. Author Leigh Barrett will explore fictional synesthesia.
