Marching competition to empower youth

The West Coast Marching Association will be hosting its marching competition, and six schools affiliated with the Cape Metro Marching Association (CCMA) will participate in the competition on Saturday, December 6, in Malmesbury. 

The CMMA, a non-profit organisation, is dedicated to promoting marching and drilling in schools and communities as a way to foster youth development and leadership skills.

Roy Prinsloo, founder, said: “Recently, sponsored by Safe Schools, the CMMA hosted a marching band festival at Zwaanswyk Academy in Retreat on Wednesday, October 8 and October 9, which featured 12 participating schools from across the Western Cape.

Ukhanyo Primary School, in Masiphumele took part in the marching festival early in October.
