Fish Hoek police are investigating a house robbery in which a 22-year-old woman was found dead.
The incident took place on Echo Road, sometime between Thursday night and the early hours of Friday, November 7.
Fish Hoek police spokesman Warrant Officer Peter Middleton said the scene was discovered around 10am that morning. The home had been entered, the occupant had been restrained, and several items were reported missing. The victim has been identified, and the cause of her death is yet to be determined, he said.
No arrests have been made, and no suspects have yet been identified. Warrant Officer Middleton confirmed that police are investigating whether the case may be linked to a recent increase in house robberies reported in surrounding areas.
Fish Hoek Community Police Forum (CPF) chairman André Blom said both the CPF and Fish Hoek police were deeply saddened by the tragedy.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends affected by this tragedy,” he said in a statement.
The CPF has urged residents not to post or share information about the incident on social media or community groups, as speculation could interfere with the ongoing investigation. Residents are also asked to avoid the area unless they live there.
Police have reminded the public to remain alert and take extra safety precautions at home. This includes being aware of surroundings when arriving home, securing potential entry points, staying calm in emergencies, and reporting any suspicious activity.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Warrant Officer Stafford on 082 469 2563.
