A fire in the Rasta camp in Ocean View on Sunday, November 30, left 12 people displaced, according to the City’s Fire and Rescue Service.
Yushra Davis from the CareCompany community, a local non-profit, said families were left with only the clothes they were wearing, and while some donations have been received, the families are still in need of clothing and other household items.
She said they need clothing for a 13-year-old boy and size 5 shoes, clothing for a 5-year-old girl, clothing for a 1-year-old boy and size 4 shoes, as well as ladies’ clothing in small and medium and size 5 shoes, and men’s clothing in medium and size 7 shoes.

Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Jermaine Carelse said the incident was reported at around 11.55am.
He said crews from Kommetjie, Fish Hoek, and Simon's Town were dispatched, and by 1.15pm firefighters had extinguished the blaze that destroyed three structures and left 12 people displaced.
"No injuries were reported, and the cause is unknown," he said.
The Fish Hoek Lions Club also assisted through its disaster store. Lions president Mandy Proctor and Lion Brent Proctor delivered clothes, toiletries, kitchenware, blankets, shoes, and toys.
"While they still need to rebuild their homes, we could at least give them a head start with these items," Ms Proctor said.
Ms Davis said items can be dropped at the CareCompany office in Valyland or donors can contact her at 073 008 9166 to arrange for collection.
