Men walked a short distance in women’s heels at Longbeach Mall on Saturday, December 6, in the Fish Hoek Lions Club’s “Walk in Heels” event - a symbolic show of support for women and children affected by violence.

GBV project coordinator Jayshree Rajpaul said the initiative offered a creative and meaningful way to raise awareness.

The event forms part of the 2025 “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, which runs from Monday, November 25, to Wednesday, December 10. The global United Nations-supported campaign focuses on ending violence against women and girls.

This year’s UN theme is “UNITE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls”.
