The Fish Hoek Lions Club has mapped out a packed programme of fundraising and community projects for the months ahead following its first board meeting of 2026.
The club announced a range of events that will support children, animal welfare organisations, local schools and community health initiatives across the Fish Hoek Valley.
The programme begins on Friday, February 14, with the Big Walk for Little Warriors – Colour Edition, a family-friendly colour run taking place at the Fish Hoek sports fields from 12pm.
The event raises funds for Reach for a Dream, a charity that supports children facing life-threatening illnesses. Participants can expect an afternoon of powder paint fun, along with a jumping castle for children and refreshments on sale. Tickets cost R60 and are available on Quicket.
Animal welfare takes centre stage in March, with two events supporting TEARS Animal Rescue.
On Sunday, March 15, cyclists will participate in the Ride for Tears, departing from Blue Route Mall at 10:00 a.m. and riding to the TEARS shelter before concluding at the Fish Hoek Athletics Club, where riders will be welcomed with refreshments and boerie rolls.
Tickets are R50 on Quicket, and each rider and pillion is asked to bring a donation of dog or cat food or blankets.
On the same day, the Lions’ youth wing, the Fish Hoek Leos - aged between 12 and 18 - will be hosting their first-ever Dog Show fundraiser at the Fish Hoek Athletics Club. Dog owners can enter their pets in a range of fun categories, with tickets costing R100 per dog via Quicket.
Looking ahead to April, the Lions Club is also planning a Wellness Day at Long Beach Mall, where residents will have access to a wide range of free health screenings.
These will include eye and hearing tests, HIV testing, breast examinations, diabetes screening, blood pressure checks, TB screening, cholesterol tests and blood grouping. The exact date will be announced closer to the time.
Alongside these events, the club is currently running a stationery drive in partnership with Longbeach Mall to support Kleinberg Primary School and Ocean View Secondary School.
Collection bins have been placed outside the ValueCo and Pick n Pay entrances in the mall, where shoppers can drop off donations until 31 January.
Through its packed programme, the Lions Club of Fish Hoek hopes to continue making a meaningful difference - from helping vulnerable children and animals to supporting schools and improving access to basic health care in the community.
