The City is inviting school pupils from Grades 10 to 11 to apply for the Junior City Council.
The programme is an apolitical initiative that aims to introduce high school pupils to the functions of local government, according to a City statement.
The eight-month programme includes debate sessions and workshops, and junior councillors will be able to submit formal submissions to council during these meetings regarding youth-related issues.
The Junior City Council will elect a junior mayor, junior deputy mayor, junior speaker, and junior chief whip.
Applicants should visit capetown.gov.za by March 21 to apply. Shortlisted candidates will need to prepare a two-minutes presentation explaining what changes they would make in their respective communities if they are selected.
