My Father’s House, a community food kitchen in Simon’s Town, will hold a 5km fun run at Zandvlei Park, on Saturday, at 10am, to raise funds for its charity projects.
In May, My Father’s House was taken over by CRC Cares, the social upliftment arm of the Christian Revival Church (CRC) False Bay (“New management for My Father’s House,” Echo, May 2).
Board member Shawn Nortje said the organisation fed more than 15 000 people a month, ran a safe house for women and children, operated a homework club, and provided training and drug-rehab programme.
The fun run is open to all, and entry is R100.
There will also be a pop-up thrift shop, food stalls, face painting for children and spot prizes.
Tickets are available on Quicket, and proof of payment must be shown on the day. Visit the My Father’s House Facebook page for more information.
