The City is asking for nominations for the annual Neighbourhood Watch Awards which recognise the work of accredited watches and their individual members.
“Every year we honour the exceptional contributions of accredited neighbourhood watch volunteers who have gone above and beyond in safeguarding their communities. The awards also recognise the importance of working with the City’s enforcement departments and highlights how vital this support is,” said mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith.
There are awards across several categories: Neighbourhood Watch Member of the Year, Crime Fighter of the Year, Neighbourhood Watch of the Year, Organisational Excellence, Mobiliser of the Year, Inspiration of the Year, Courage in Action, Situational Crime Prevention and Social Responsibility.
Only watches or organisations accredited with the province’s Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety or those who have formally applied for accreditation are eligible for nomination.
A comprehensive body of evidence must accompany each nomination to support the achievements of the nominee.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday November 23.
The nomination period runs until midnight on Friday October 4.
Nominations can be submitted through the online forms available on the City’s website.
