The Fish Hoek Lions Club won the prize for best “gees” at a potjiekos competition hosted by the Tokai Lions Club on Saturday November 9.
Tokai Lions Club president Charlie Flanagan described the event as “a fun day out for the family” and said it was in aid of raising funds for the club’s upcoming children’s Christmas party, set for Saturday December 7, at the clubhouse.
The funds raised, he said, would be used to provide individualised age and gender-specific Christmas gifts for the children attending the event.
The event was open to the public and seven teams participated in the competition.
In addition to winning the prize for best “gees,” the Fish Hoek Lions Club also secured fourth place for their “proudly South African” potjie.
Mr Flanagan said the panel of judges included celebrity chef and radio personality Jenny Morris known as The Giggling Gourmet.
He said each team could choose their themes and the final product was judged by “gees”, presentation and theme.
